Entries

Ages are taken from the 1st September from the start of the competing academic year. Payments need to be sent to the bank account listed on the entry form. Entries are not confirmed until payment is received.

Novice is the category to start in if you are new to festivals. It is widely accepted that a dancer would move to the open category once achieving a mark of 84 or higher within any competition.


Arrival

Competitors are asked to sign in upon arrival on festival day so we can check that our running order and know who is taking part that day

Parents/guardians are allowed in the changing rooms and child are expected to be supervised at all times by a responsible adult

Performers are expected to warm themselves up for their pieces and will be left to do this independently

The venue will be an appropriate temperature to restrict the likelihood of injuries


Performance

Performance areas will be checked every morning for any hazards and a first aider will always be on site

Performers will be provided by the performer and will be appropriate for the age and genre

Performances should be created to the ability of the student and it is the expectation of SDF that the pieces are created by professional and qualified teachers

Soundtracks should not contain any offensive language


Staff

Adjudicators will be DBS checked and qualified with relevant experience

All staff on site working for SDF will be DBS checked to be allowed to work around children

Staff have the right to refuse entry or ask people to leave if their behaviour is considered inappropriate or hateful to other participants


GDPR

We ask that parents posting on their personal social media accounts only post their own children unless consent from other children’s guardians has been sought.
